Tin Can is an indie sci-fi simulation survival game in which you must survive the destruction of your starship – and the subsequent fallout in your escape pod that is suffering from multiple malfunctions – if you are to survive. From managing gas canisters (oxygen and carbon dioxide) to sealing leaks and preventing the on-board reactor from having a catastrophic failure, you’ve got your hands full, and it can be stressful and overwhelming.

Fortunately, there is a training portion of the game that walks you through every single step you might have to encounter during the survival portions of the game, and offers you the chance to learn the ins and outs of your escape pod before the game puts you through the ringer. It’s a great mode to help you really wrap your head around what your capsule needs to keep you alive and to keep functioning optimally – and gets you ready for the more demanding modes that Tin Can offers.

As challenging as it is unique, Tin Can is a game that truly stands on its own as an experience you’re unlikely to find anywhere else, and if you are a fan of survival games – even if you’re not very technically savvy, Tin Can is a suspenseful experience worth checking out.

Tin Can is $19.99 on Steam, Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch.

Developed by Tin Can Studio and Published by Tin Can Studio and IndieArk, Tin Can is a Space Survival Game that released May 12th, 2022 for PC and on April 27th, 2023 for Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch. For this review video, I played the Playstation 4 version on my Playstation 5 via backwards compatibility.
