Tinker Tailor Stalker Spy: #1,035 ( Stalker ) Loner Kruglov Day 135: The X-19 Task
I'm not a Loner. My name is not Kruglov. My task is to infiltrate any Factions that I choose, in order to investigate and seize any of the new prototype weapons and ammunition, that have illegally entered the Zone. I have left the Mercenary Faction to join the Loner Faction. I am the Stalker.
Encrypted Diary: Colonel Petrneko rewarded me with a Clear Sky armor for the Wild Territory job. It was sad I didn't get there in time to save any of the Dutyers, but I avenged their death by killing the remaining seven Mercs. Colonel Petrenko said for me to go talk to general Voronin next. When I did, he said he heard I was in possession of a Psi Helmet and said he wanted me to turn off the Brain Scorcher in the Radar level of the Red Forest. This was it. The X-19 Lab job I had heard about, but not the Monolith infiltrator version the other Factions had offered me. I had 35 heavily armed Loner Companions, with plenty of supplies. This was the first time I actually had an army to undertake the task. It was day 135 of my undercover mission.
Game Note: At the end of the last video, I made a manual save before I talked to Colonel Petrenko. I did this knowing I might not like who he wanted me to talk to next. I got Barkeep the first time and then Semenov twice. I ended that video and started this one. This time when I reloaded, instead of just getting cash, Petrenko rewarded me with armor. I love armor rewards the most, even if I don't need them. Then he said go see General Voronin. That is exactly what I wanted to hear.
As a reminder, there are two X-19 Lab tasks given in Call of the Zone. The most common one, given by Clear Sky, Ecologists, Freedom, Loners and Bandits (5 Factions) is the one where you stash all your gear, are given a drug and wake up in Pripyat in a Monolith uniform with nothing but an AK and not much else. You literally have to start over again with all your gear since the other eight Factions hate you. Your task is to infiltrate X-19 as a Monolith and then when you shut down the Brain Scorcher, then all your comrades try to kill you on your escape. I don't want this version, even though I did try it briefly, in another game, to see that I would then go to the Monolith Base in Pripyat, to get gear from the Monolith Trader and Repair Tech.
The other version of the X-18 Lab task, is the normal version where you go in as whatever Faction you are in, with or without Companions, to turn off the Brain Scorcher. Fight your way in and fight your way out. However only three factions give this. The Mercenaries, the Military and Duty. The Mercs and Military have been my enemies in the DFR for some time. It hasn't been moving up and down like it used to, where my enemies and allies had been changing. My only hope was the Duty Faction. Go see General Voronin.
Like with Colonel Petrenko, I made a manual save before talking to General Voronin. he offered me a job to take two Dutyers (who appeared behind me suddenly) and meet up with other Dutyers at the Truck Cemetery, to fight some Monolith. I've done this job before a couple of times. I reloaded a second time and General Voronin gave me the same, with the two Dutyers appearing behind me again. Groan. I was starting to feel like this is all he would offer. I tried one more time. General Voronin mentioned that he heard I was in possession of a Psi Helmet. I could not believe it. This was it, the X-19 task I wanted, finally. It was Day 135 on October 14, 2020.
