TMNT 2012 Season 2 Finale Review - The Invasion (both parts)

Despite Leatherhead’s warnings, the invasion begins. The Kraang invade Earth whereas the Foot go on the offensive and after April, Splinter and the Turtles. What follows now is a fight to save Earth but at the same time, they also have to contend with the Foot and the Shredder. In the end, there is no victory, only defeat and the Turtles have to leave their home so they can prepare to save it when they return.
The Season Finale was incredible. It was action packed and intense from start to finish. We also get our first appearance of Kraang Subprime. Yeah. Irma was a Kraang in disguise. What’s even better is that Gilbert Gottfried voices Kraang Subprime. Yeah. This makes it all the more awesome. Not only that but most of the 2-parter followed the Mirage storylines “What Goes Around Comes Around” and “Silent Partner” but with a few differences. I do explain what they are but it doesn’t stop from giving us a finale that is satisfying. In the end, the Turtles have no choice but to retreat and leave New York. The Shredder has defeated Splinter and had him submerged in a whirlpool only to survive due to Karai. Not to mention the Kraang have taken over New York and plan to take over the world.
I also provide my thoughts on the season overall and whereas Season 1 started things off, Season 2 threw a monkey wrench and decide to change the status quo. Not only that but the season had an overarching arc regarding mutagen that they tried to collect only for it to spill all over the city, affecting anyone or anything. April splitting with the group only to join much later, new characters such as Casey Jones, Kraang Subprime and shocking twists that affect everyone involved. It’s amazing.
I plan on reviewing Season 3 next week starting with the first two episodes. It’s going to be one heck of a ride.
