I had someone tell me that there was an anti piracy check put into TMNT 3, where if the copyright symbol was removed, it would make the game unplayable. What that means is all of the enemies have a ton of health and you take more damage. For example, foot soldiers take four hits instead of the usual two. Also, Shredder is impossible to beat (literally). I believed the other stuff because it happened to me and PJ before on console, so I tried messing around with it some more.

Turns out...it's true! I think the reason it works on console is you can block part of the copyright symbol on the title screen if you tilt the cart slightly (which is why there's jail bars on screen). It makes that check, sees it's been sabotaged or removed, so it enables super impossible mode.

All enemies have double health and bosses have A TON of health. You can use level select and fight bosses past Shredder, but Shredder is impossible to beat, once his health "runs out" it just replenishes. Over. And over.
