TMNT 3: Radical Rescue - Part 2: Liberating Leo - 'The Cowabunga Collection'
This week I top off the Gameboy trilogy with 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue.'
This one was one of the later games to come out, and puts a different spin on the gameplay, taking it into more of a MetroidVania direction. I'm not as intuitive at navigating those kinds of maps, so this game took me by far the longest to get through. Even with heavy editing, this one still ended up being 7 episodes long (many of them longer than my preferred 20-30 minute mark), so I'm having to post one of these every single day this week.
It also gave the turtles themselves a starker look, harkening back to the old comics of origin (in great contrast to the particular bosses you fight in this game).
The play order that I've decided on for this collection (which probably won't make sense to anyone other than me) is as follows...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade, 1989)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan (Gameboy, 1990)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From the Sewers (Gameboy, 1991)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Gameboy, 1993)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES, 1989)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES, 1990)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES, 1991)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time (Arcade, 1991)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time (SNES, 1992)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist (Genesis, 1992)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES, 1993)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Genesis, 1993)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES, 1994)
(Yes, the NES version of Tournament Fighters came out AFTER the SNES version. I have no idea why.)
Because each game takes a different amount of time to get through, but I still wanna keep videos between 20-30 minutes whenever possible, it's hard to say exactly how they're gonna be scheduled each week, but I will probably aim for morning releases for most of them (8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time). And I'd like to get through one game per week. That may mean I end up releasing multiple videos in one day with some of them, but I'll try and avoid that lol.
