To Duck or Not to Duck (1943) with healthbars
244Plot:
Elmer Fudd and his dog Laramore are hunting ducks. After missing Daffy multiple times, Elmer grazes him with buckshot, causing him to fall. Laramore ensures a pillow is waiting to cushion Daffy's landing. Daffy then teaches the dog to retrieve a duck while calling him "Rover". When Laramore takes the duck to Elmer, Elmer apologizes for shooting him, explaining that he had to "pwug" Daffy because he is "a gweat spoowtsman."
Daffy retorts that Elmer doesn't know the meaning of fair play and adds that Elmer wouldn't be so tough without various accouterments, including his big shotgun, knife, and hunter's apparel. He opens his feathered chest to reveal a bulletproof vest and challenges Elmer to a "fair" fight.
Intimidatingly, Daffy maneuvers Elmer into a boxing ring surrounded by duck spectators. The burly referee, Ducky Wheeze, struggles to stop laughing at pathetic Elmer long enough to introduce him. When he finally does, the crowd boos overwhelmingly, while only Laramore cheers from separate bleachers.
Before the match starts, the referee exhorts the two opponents to "fight clean," but Elmer continues demonstrating illegal moves on him. Laramore suggests something awfully screwy about the fight, and as Elmer is slouched, Daffy beats up on him again before the referee calls them out to shake hands. Daffy manipulates Elmer into choosing which hand to shake, resulting in Elmer being bashed on the head with a hammer. Elmer falls to the mat as the referee rings the bell for Round 1, and Daffy Duck is declared the winner and new champion.
