I know what you're about to ask but before you do, I throw this question out to you: Does this not remind you of a Super Sentai of some sort? Because given how this game is, the story feels like it.

Anyway, if you're not familiar with Culture Brain, this was their most famed series before they faded into obscurity. Hiryu no Ken tells the story of a young man by the name of Ryuhi (Rick Stalker in the US) and his quest to reclaim the Sword of Vajira and the Scroll of Hiryu no Ken.
This series had an interesting (if not, less than confusing) concept, it's part RPG, Beat'em up and Vs. rolled into one. However the defense concept was reverse. If you ever played Hiryu no Ken 2 and 3 (aka Flying Warriors), you know what I'm talking about. Although the SNES version is rather short, it's an okay game, it tends to be delayed at times (which you'll see in the fights) but it can be either a blessing or a curse with delay attacks.
If this was a Super Sentai, I'd called Choubutokin Ryuman or Buto Sentai Hiryuman.
