"Tom and Jerry: The Movie" is a platform game developed and published by Sega in 1992 for the Master System. It later saw a conversion to the Game Gear in 1993, featuring entirely different level stages but retaining the same gameplay mechanics. It's important to note that despite sharing a name with the film "Tom and Jerry: The Movie," the game bears no connection to the movie's content.

The game's plot differs slightly between versions. In the Master System edition, players take control of Tom as he embarks on a thrilling chase after Jerry, leading them through various locations, including the house, the outdoors, the countryside, and back inside, ultimately culminating in Tom briefly catching Jerry. On the Game Gear, Tom pursues Jerry on a quest to uncover a hidden treasure, traversing from the house to an island where the treasure is buried.

Gameplay centers around guiding Tom in his pursuit of Jerry. The feline protagonist must navigate lengthy levels while contending with Jerry, who sets explosive traps and maneuvers under platforms. Tom's abilities include climbing platforms, jumping gaps, and pouncing. Players aim to catch Jerry by solving puzzles at the end of each level, although it's possible to apprehend Jerry earlier in the level with a significant challenge. Capturing Jerry advances the player to the next level.

The game's release history includes the Master System version in 1992, followed by the Game Gear version in 1993. It also made its way to the Game Boy on October 2, 1993, and to the Genesis more than two months later. Notably, due to the unfavorable reviews of the film, the game's title was later changed to "Tom and Jerry: Frantic Antics!" to disassociate it from the movie.
