Mission: Clear out the Sentinel Weather Station and Outpost
Briefing:
The disputed South China Sea is once again a hot topic after a Chinese ship was severely damaged from a torpedo strike. According to Chinese media, they were able to recover fragments of the torpedo that struck them and claim to have 'solid evidence' it's a US make. POTUS has had to deal with an internationally backlash, including from our allies. Even though we emphatically deny the deliberate strike was of our doing, word is from the intelligence community is that we have absolutely no clue as to where that torpedo came from. Every active naval ship in the vicinity has their stock countered for, having checked and rechecked millions of times, so we are at a loss as to who (and why) that weapon was fired in the first place.
In the meantime, we have a shot in the dark at this: one of our intel teams had reported a stockpile of a large array of weapons confiscated by an Outcast patrol group, during one of your previous missions in the Good Hope Mountain region. Contained were several cache of weapons useful for the cause, as well as extra materials stripped down for parts and ammo. Having rechecked the report, it seems some of these materials where actually US manufactured battleship missiles and torpedoes. So there's a 50/50 chance Sentinel may have somehow got their hands on US Naval weapons and used one of them against that Chinese ship. What for? Who knows, but we may find out soon enough.
Although Sentinel do own a Submarine control facility, our tech boys believe the command to operate whichever submarine they've used in the South China Sea was actually done via the Weather Station. Also, we believe the rest of the stockpile which was saved from the Outpost raid was relocated to the Red Ferret Outpost. Both facilities need clearing, so that our tech and intel teams can sweep them for any further clues and hopefully save POTUS from any potential international disasters.
