This is just a gameplay vid of the first level of the original Tomb Raider on the PS1. I'm playing it on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.

I'm a big fan of the original Tomb Raider series, and I still play it all the time. To be honest, the only new TR game I've played is Legend, and I got to the first Quick Time Event, and then shut it off. The appeal of TR to me was the fact that you were always in control of Lara throughout the game and that means through all the traps. I despise QTEs in my action or adventure games because they take you out of control and essentially just let you watch a video sequence, and press buttons to it. It's totally not exciting. I like to be in control, and it was always an adrenaline rush in the series to have a big boulder rolling after you and having to control Lara yourself to get her to safety.

I don't really even care about the new series, because I still enjoy the gameplay, tense atmosphere, and great level design of the original series. I even like the though controls.
