Die Rise needs to be remastered, but with a few fixes. Here’s five things it did wrong.

#5: The Jumping Jacks on Die Rise aren’t a good boss. Their design is reductive and they’re not fun to fight. The only thing I feel when I hear them spawn is, “oh, nice, a free perk.”

#4: While I praised the trample steam in the positive review, the process of actually building the trample steam is abysmal. Without part swapping it takes forever to get anything done, all the while you’re doing basically nothing.

#3: The mystery box on Die Rise is basically useless. All of the spawn locations are very out of the way of the player, and with how good the buildable wonder weapon and wallbuys are, the only reason to go after it is to get monkey bombs.

#2: Who’s Who is the worst perk in the franchise in solo. Quick Revive does everything it does but better. It shouldn’t spawn in solo games. In co-op it can be useful since your movement is so restricted, but Tombstone would work just as well.

#1: Die Rise has terrible map travel. Getting from one place to another can be extremely linear, and waiting for elevators to move up the building brings the game to a grinding halt.
