RPM Tuning (or "Top Gear: RPM Tuning") is a bland racing title within the Top Gear series, developed by Babylon Software and published by Wanadoo, Kemco, and Ubisoft. I think it was more of a budget release, but I'm not entirely sure. Nevertheless, it recieved almost unanimous negative reception due to a cumbersome interface with annoying gameplay features (such as racing mission sets and repeating the first mission in a set if you quit at any time), an awkward save/load system (you can't save in the main mode unless you complete mission sets), highly bland visuals (they're sharp enough, but have limited detail and the environments lack life), grating sound effects (the volume can be adjusted to an extent), and a boring story full of strange typos and utter lack of originality. It has limited game modes as well. The game was released earlier on the PS2 in PAL territories and was supposedly released and enhanced for PCs, though I can't find much info on it.

Playing as Vince Riker, you're looking for a stolen car and your only leads are "RedSet" and a tuner garage in the area. Vince figures he'll have more luck if he joins street racing. Yay. To the game's credit, you can do a fair bit of customizing and the cars handle realistically enough (contrary to what's said, the controls aren't bad, but you have to hit turns more realistically by slowing down or drifting) since you can adjust various aspects of your handling besides simply buying parts with better stats. The cars are based around real cars (though it doesn't have any licensed cars). You need money for parts but can also gain "Fame", used to accentuate the car aesthetics with things like stickers and such.

The game isn't unplayable, but there are plenty of better racing games out there. This is a video showing some stuff in the game. I LOL'ed when I drifted my car into the computer and steered in reverse to force him into the wall, messing him up for the rest of the race.
