I played this so long and I absolutely loved it back in the day. It was the only "Flight sim"-like game for Nintendo after all that I knew about, and as I was playing this a lot a friend of my stepfather saw it and went "Isn't that Top Gun? Did you know that's a movie?", and pretty much the same day he brought the movie over for me to watch and I loved it ^-^
It's still a fun game but it's terribly overshadowed these days by the likes of A(ce)ir Combat 1.
A note.. I don't remember ever in Top Gun: The Second Mission of having to land on the aircraft carrier..
I wonder if that's a difference between US/PAL version.. Or if it's something I just forgot about.
Dodging the trees on Mission 2 is the worst part of the whole game. They feel like they magnetize towards you.
Unlike doding the thunder or space lazers which is actually easy, the trees are rather unfair.
Those Russian names are hilarious, almost expecting Soda Popinsky to appear among them.
