Totem Victor E-bike - Video Unbox, assembly, and feature overview!
This is the Totem Victor, a 350w rear hub motor E-bike with a 10Ah 36v battery.
Big thank you to Totem E-bikes for providing me this bike at a discounted rate. The review will reflect my experience!
This bike is quick, lightweight, and trail inspired with good front shocks, and a true pedal assisted riding experience, that makes the bike feel like a 500w e-bike!
In this video, I provide a full unboxing, packaging removal, assembly, parts list, feature overview, charging, and more. The next video will be the riding portion, in which I take this on suburban roads and forest paths. You will see acceleration tests, top speed, range tests, with my thoughts on pedal feel, brake feel, motor feel/power, comfort, and much more!
My initial impressions were great; The bike looked and felt high quality! Assembly was easy, and everything was packaged very well. See below for a list of pros/cons regarding the unboxing, first look, and 1 month of ownership.
Pros:
Bike arrived in amazing condition, and was packaged very well!
Price is right, at just over $600 cdn.
Very easy and quick assembly
Lightweight and easy to move. This makes it feel more like a bike during riding and when you run out of battery!
Full 21 speeds allow for better hill climbing abilities and better top speed (electric limited to ~32km/h)
Simple display, no crazy modes or buttons; just a large display showing the essentials, with 5 speed assist levels
More of a bike riding experience, the motor is smooth and not very intrusive
The tires are knobby and feel great!
Cons:
First major issue was seconds after arrival, when I noticed the seller sent the wrong colour! This was resolved by processing a large discount, but was quite the disappointment. Something to keep in mind.
The next major issue was the shift feel from the hand controls. While they both work (front and back), the front shifting mechanism broke completely after 200km of use and the rear shifting mechanism is extremely stiff to use. It was also incorrectly aligned, and needed a 20 minute adjustment following assembly. (Waiting on seller reply, and will update)
The seat is not super comfy, but obviously this is subjective.
The listing on Amazon stated 500w peak 750w. The motor is only 350w and it only has a 36v battery. Regardless of controller output, this bike feels very slow on throttle only. This is a bit misleading. This is a 350w e-bike only!!
The brakes work well but lack the bite I would expect from brand new brakes. Especially being a mountain bike style, I would have expected better breaks.
The bike itself is a bit small, suited to riders smaller than 6ft.
Overall I am happy with the bike after riding it, but the misleading motor power and the colour mix-up were hard to move past upon initial delivery. Now the shifter mechanism is broken. Putting those issues aside, I would recommend this bike to first time e-bike buyers, as long as they already have technical bike knowledge!
Riding review video coming at the end of June 2025, stay tuned!
