Story mode in Hisōtensoku is a lot harder than SWR. Even though there are only 5 stages in each story, most of the opponents have extremely difficult spellcards. Not only they can make a lot of damage but they are also very hard to get before time out.

For Sanae's story, it is harder than Youmu's story in SWR. I had to play 92 times (excluding spell practice that may be more than 100 times) until I could do this run. Cirno is still easy to beat. It starts to be harder for Meiling (especially her 2nd spellcard) and, for Reimu, it is pretty hard to get her spellcards before time out.
