246Well I'm sorry about the game being recorded untranslated. I forgot to make this clear to my recorder, so I inserted subtitles to the text (thanks to Touhou Wiki and Touhou Patch Center!). In any case...now for a small Q & A session!
Q: How many mistakes did you commit? Does it please Junko?
A: Three misses. One in each stage beginning from Stage 4. Nope, it doesn't please Junko at all, what's with having 300% impurity (3 misses * 100%) and all. Just having 1% impurity is enough for Junko to kill anyone unconditionally, resulting in a loss by default situation.
Q: So...did you beat Junko?
A: From a technical perspective, yes. From a story perspective, it is a loss even if you beat her and clear the game. The "bad" ending you get as a result requires only one miss in any Legacy attempt to get: how many credits you clear the game on doesn't matter.
Q: Who's Chang'e?
A: The Princess of the Moon Rabbits, imprisoned by the Lunarians. Junko has a grudge against her because of an ages old feud where Chang'e's husband, under her evil influence, killed Junko's son. Junko killed Chang'e's husband and would also love to finish off Chang'e. But she drank the Hourai Elixir...
Q: Is Clownpiece the hardest Stage 5 boss ever?
A: No. Give that title to Rin Kaenbyou, or Orin of Subterranean Animism. Rin relies on tons of fairies and unpredictable spellcards, while Clownpiece only has two consistently difficult spellcards (Prison Sign "Flash and Stripe" and "Graze Inferno").
Q: Why does Clownpiece wear the American flag?
A: Piece wears the American flag not because she's American, but rather because the Lunarians hate to be reminded about the 1969 Moon Landing by NASA (just ask Eirin about that), so her wearing the flag is some sort of measure against the Lunarians or a way to show that she hates them, since Hecatia's (her master) friend (Junko) hates them. She never changed her dress code after becoming a Gensokyo resident in the manga that releases once in each of the four seasons, Visionary Fairies in Shrine. Moreover, it seems her spellcards have the theme of prisons and Hell...could be a jab at the United States? Who knows.
Q: Why Reisen?
I wouldn't have picked her if Junko didn't ask if Chang'e is watching her. Since Junko did ask that question, I picked her. Her dialogue, out of the four characters, is the most delightful and energetic. Learning about Eirin's and Kaguya's intentions only made her more determined to finish the job best rather than get angered about it. Technically she has piercing shots, a very USEFUL thing to use against Sagume, and her spellcard allows her to run into bullets three times without dying. And she's an awesome Stage 5 Boss in Imperishable Night.
