5I've decided to make a video showing how this very exploitable shop glitch works.
NOTE: I've been told that this has been fixed in version 0.02a, but I'm playing on version 0.01b here, so I can still perform the glitch.
Now, normally you can only pick one card from the shop at the end of each stage. However, if you pause the game while shopping, the shop interface resets itself when you unpause. And, with this glitch, if you pause the game immediately after selecting Yes for a card, the shop resets itself, but you keep what you chose, so you can select a card again and get more.
By itself, this would allow you to buy multiple things if you have the cash for them, so that would be a minor exploit. However, certain things are free (like bombs and power ups), making this a greater exploit, and one of the free cards that's always available is Nazrin's crystal, which simply gives you 50 gold. And, just like that, we have an infinite money exploit. Hello, max lives, max bombs, max power, and everything else that's currently available at the shop!
You can even buy multiples of the same ability card with this trick, but I'd use caution with that, because I think buying too many equipment cards can cause the game to crash. However, you can buy a lot of activation cards with no problem. I've seen videos of people acquiring dozens of Miracle Mallets for turning bullets into gold, basically turning this game into Gold Rush, so to speak, and it is very possible to cap the score at 9,999,999,990 this way.
However, that requires the Miracle Mallet to randomly appear at the shop. In this run here, the mallet didn't show up for me until after I cleared stage 3, by which point the game was complete anyway. So, I played around with other cards I was able to acquire. At the end of stage 2, I was able to get Yukari's gap (you can screen wrap horizontally by pressing C at one of the sides of the screen, and there's no cooldown on this one; use it as much as you want), and the MOON!!! (Pressing C shoots a big moon forward that clears out bullets and damages enemies, but there is a lengthy cooldown on this one.)
If you have multiple activation cards on hand, only one will be active on the C button at a time. You can switch which card is active by pressing D (which admittedly does feel a bit awkward to me). I suppose I could've gotten several moons and then just spammed them during stage 3 here, but I didn't want to break the game too much during this run.
Also, I started this game with the wolf card to boost my power again, along with Eirin's potion, which lets you survive taking a hit at the cost of 2 bombs, and will auto-bomb with a weaker effect. If you have only 1 bomb, it'll still work, consuming that bomb. And, you can still deathbomb normally, which'll only use 1 bomb like usual if you press the bomb button fast enough after getting hit. (It's a good thing I started with this, because I took a number of dumb hits, but still cleared without actually losing a life, although getting hit during a spell card still fails the capture, which happened on the third boss's final spell card here.)
