Alright, I gave this some attempts on Easy and Normal, and then decided to record this attempt with Reimu on the Normal difficulty.

So, this game's main gimmick are ability cards. Some are activated abilities that work when you press the C button, such as a mallet that turns a cluster of bullets into gold. These have a lengthy cooldown period, so you can't just use them willy-nilly (normally). There are also equipment cards that basically give you "options", basically little attack drones for a little extra firepower. And, then there are passive abilities, which are always active and buff you in some way.

After you clear each stage, you get the opportunity to spend gold you've acquired to buy a card from a series of them that pop up in between stages. Certain cards are randomly chosen, and certain cards are always there, like the ones that give you a 1-up or a bomb. The catch is that you only get to make one purchase (normally), so it makes sense that a few of them are free, because if you choose one of them, then you're not getting anything else.

You can also start the adventure with up to two cards, which can be picked from any cards you've purchased on any previous plays. The first time I played this game, I already had the mallet that can turn bullets into gold, so I guess that's what everyone starts with.

And, on my first play, one of the first cards I encountered was the Cirno card, so of course I bought that immediately. I'd also acquired some other cards prior to starting this recorded run. So, for this run, I went with Cirno, an equipment card that places an ice crystal in front of me that rapidly fires randomly in a "pointlessly wide" range around me, and I also picked the wolf card, which I think slightly increases my attack power.

After clearing stage 1, I decide to buy the rabbit's foot card, but I have no idea what it does. And then after I cleared stage 2, I bought Koishi's hat, which again, I have no idea what it does, but it was a card I hadn't purchased before. The demo ends after stage 3, but you get a chance to purchase one more card there anyway, which can be useful for your collection. I bought some sort of red feather, which appears to have given me 3 extra lives.

I do show the descriptions of every card I see, so if anyone can translate those descriptions, that would be nice. Or, if anyone has already made an English translation of what every card does, then let me know. Perhaps I could link to it here.

UPDATE (March 26): I found a link to an English translation for all of the cards:

BTW, I recorded this as I was playing directly, instead of just recording a replay like I typically do, because the between-stage shopping isn't shown in replays, and I wanted to show what that looked like here.

Now, this run is by no means perfect. I use some bombs and even take a couple of deaths in stage 3. (My mind really thought that last small fairy at about 8:25 would be defeated by my homing shots before she could shoot at me again. And, I was unable to dodge the bullets at about 11:56, and had no bombs left to use there.)

And, dying resets your bombs to 3, regardless of however many you had before, so it would be a very good idea to use up all of your bombs whenever you're in a tight spot before you die. Also, dying drops your shot power by 1.00, and only scatters 0.07 worth of power on the field for you to reclaim, so it can be annoying to lose a lot of power quickly from just a couple deaths.

Oh, and you're probably wondering what I mean by "No Shoplifting" in the video title. Well, I'll just say there is a very exploitable glitch with the shop that appears after each stage, which I didn't abuse here. There are already videos out there on YouTube showing how it works, but should I try recording another run where I take advantage of this glitch myself? Let me know!

Feel free to comment, but just know that I dislike profanity. Any comments containing F-bombs and/or S-bombs will be red carded! (In other words, they'll be deleted.)
(Comments containing other types of inappropriate content may meet this fate as well.)
