I figured out what the navball does. You direct the dot on the navball in the opposite direction relative to the center of the field you are in. If the dot is outside of the top 2 quadrants when the dot fully turns red, nothing happens; if the dot is inside the quadrants a boss appears. Obviously skipping the boss gets you to the end faster but defeating a boss fills the gauge on the left a lot and I don't really know what that does yet.
Reimu is actually surprisingly flexible.
+ Level 1 can hit enemies from halfway across the field while hugging side
+ A properly timed and positioned Level 1 instantly destroys bosses
+ Average speed
+ Stupid amounts of health and regen where you'll never run out
- Average charge speed
- Level 1 is kind of useless against bosses if not properly timed/positioned though
