Touhou Labyrinth 2 Any% in 9:55:00 (Segmented) (Stratum 1)
5THIS SPEEDRUN IS SEGMENTED!!
Meaning segments were recorded separately and will be presented together as a finished run. This is not meant to be compared to a single segment run and exists only as a proof of concept for the route.
I chose to do this first run segmented because of how lengthy it is, and segmenting it allows me to play a bit of it every day and take notes on what can be improved on future runs. Not to mention I have work and need to sleep too.
Timer starts when selecting New Game and ends on the fade to black after the results screen in the 20F regular final boss. For the purposes of this segmented run, time was paused after the "Game was saved" message appears on screen, and is resumed when selecting the save file on the title screen.
I go out of my way to collect treasures since it will allow me to get the "Open 256 chests" achievement by the endgame, which gives you 50k money that is VERY necessary to beat the game underlevelled. I also grind a bit on each floor to make sure I level up naturally and use the exp bonuses that come from just battling while exploring the map.
This video covers the first stratum, it's very basic with not much going on. We get Kasen as soon as possible since she allows us to steamroll the early game bosses with little effort. We also recruit Nitori right before the Komachi fight since she is VERY strong against her and makes Komachi's fight very easy and consistent.
In addition, we grind the "60 battles in 1 dungeon dive" achievement, since it provides us with a Wash Basin Set, which paired with Nitori's Maintenance makes her obscenely strong super early on. Kourin plays a major part in getting Nitori with his skill to increase the drop rate, which will allow us to get enough materials to craft 10 items and get Nitori.
