This video explains the basic gameplay of the game. I'll explain how to beat the big monster on another video.

About downed:
If you are downed, you can only wait for your friend to revive you OR you can kill yourself by holding the X button. When you are killed, you will return to the homebase. Remember, 3 death = mission failed

If you want to help a downed friend, you can revive them by getting close to them and press and hold R. So the healing process is just like when you want to purify something. Just make sure you friend is in the area when you hold R.
