Tour WW2 HMS Alliance - Royal Navy Submarine Museum
Let's take a deep dive into the fascinating world of submarines at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum with Steve a former submariner. Check out his fab videos @stevestopdaysout837 In this video we tour WW2 HMS Alliance, the only remaining Second World War era submarine. HMS Alliance is a Royal Navy A-class, Amphion-class, or Acheron-class submarine, laid down towards the end of the Second World War and completed in 1947. Explore the decks and narrow corridors, look through the original periscope, and hear the stories of those who served onboard. As well as HMS Alliance, you can explore the other submarines including Holland I and X24 as well as photographs, documents, ship plans, and artifacts from another time. Over her 28-year career, she held the world record for longest dive by a submarine, staying immersed for 30 days, in 1947, served during the Cold War, and retired in 1973. The submarine is the only surviving example of the class, having been a memorial and museum ship since 1981. See objects that retell hidden conflicts and first-hand accounts from the crew onboard. #hmsalliance #submarine #submariner
