The first R-Type was ported from the arcade to the Sega Master System and NEC's TurboGraphx 16. The TurboGraphX version was visually closer to the original game but this 8 - BIT Master System version was the one that most gamers played and remember. This was released in 1987 and although it suffered some visual downgrades, it was as fun as it was in the arcades and easily the best shooter on the system.
