Comparing an older wristwatch technology with its more modern counterpart. The Casio C-80, released in 1980, uses a diode to light its display; most digital watches today, like the Casio F-105 shown here, use electroluminescent (EL) technology. Casio branded this technology Illuminator and Foxfire in 1995; Timex, who implemented it first in 1992, called their technology Indiglo.
