5Yakira Chambers, a writer and story editor for NCIS: Hawaii, died at the age of 42.
According to family sources who spoke to Deadline, Chambers' primary cause of death was reportedly acute asphyxiation.
The actress from Insecure reportedly fell last week while outside a mall in Newport Beach, California, with her mother.
On January 2, NCIS Hawaii will honour Chambers during a three-hour NCIS crossover.
A statement from the family reads, 'Her sudden and untimely death has left us all grief-stricken. Yakira was a light, a symbol of hope to our community, a steward of our culture, and a representation of what pursuing your dreams looks like.'
