This is an educational video with a guy in a lab coat who explains science. It's part of my series of educational videos on significant figures. In this video, I explain how trailing zeroes relate to significant figures.
Trailing zeroes aren't always significant figures. I wish we'd develop a new digit for non-significant zeroes (sometimes I use a '?') so that we'd know 1000 means there's exactly 1000, and we could use 10?? to say there's "close to 1000". Sadly, this is not the case, but most of your numbers with trailing zeroes will have a digit after the decimal (like 100.0) in order to show that there are four significant figures.
