Trails through Daybreak - Another boss and reflection on what we got so far
I really like Trails through Daybreak, even at this early stage, it feels like a way better JRPG than Cold Steel ever was.
Trails in the Sky was a strong story with strong characters, an awesome protagonist (actually two since it changed in 3rd) and the second chapter is still the best I ever seen.
Trails from Zero to Azure gave us a different kind of strong story. The protagonist was fine, but not as strong as the former examples, but I think he was like that to give other characters more room to breathe.
Trails of Cold Steel was a game I was hyped for, I wanted to like it, but nothing created here seemed to work out. Between a weak protagonist with Rean, a mostly weak supporting cast the game was mostly unable to develope, a harem system nobody needed and failed gameplay experiments with the arts and the commands, it was hard to like it, even though it had it's high points.
Reverie was a great party after Cold Steel, quite odd but a lot of fun, I did reate this one very high, maybe a little too high, might have been me being happy we finally hit post Cold Steel, but it was a fun ride nonetheless.
Daybreak is a fine change of pace, and it was needed if you think about it. We got back to the roots with a good protagonist, an interesting story and a way more grounded gameplay. The arts/orbal system works way better again, and while some changed are still a bit odd, I get used to it.
