The role of the infantry is to close with and destroy the enemy in close combat. In the evolving battlespace of the 21st century members of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment train to defend Canada's interests at home and overseas. As mechanized infantry the battalion utilizes LAV 6.0 AFV's to provide enhanced mobility, firepower, and protection. Throughout the 2022-2023 training year, soldiers sharpen their skills through progressive dry/ live fire training, specialty courses, and force-on-force exercises at CFB Petawawa. I am proud to train and serve alongside the best men and women our nation has to offer.
