A very good afternoons session spent at Byfleet & New Haw station on the South Western Mainline where we see plenty of services from South Western Railway.

Byfleet & New Haw was opened in 1927 and was only done so to cope with the growing population of the area surrounding Byfleet. One of the biggest reasons the population grew so quickly was because in 1911 there was a new aircraft factory built by the Vickers company. This resulted in new houses being built for the factory workers. When the station was opened it was given the name 'West Weybridge' and was eventually changed to its current name in 1962.

The stations sits very close to the Brooklands racetrack and aerodrome and the race fans amongst you will know that this circuit held the 1927 British Grand Prix.

My next station is going to be Weybridge which was by far and away the better station of the ones that I did today with the exception of Guildford.
