What's up movie buffs, I'm Tatiana Diana with Clevver Movies and I have the latest on this past weekend's box office numbers.
As you may have already guessed, Transformers Dark of the Moon took over the box office this weekend, earning not only the biggest numbers this weekend, but also made some patriotic history! The flick earned 398.1 million in its global, six day debut, and between Friday and Monday grossed 116.4 million which made the movie the best july 4th opening on record!
"Cars 2" is STILL in the race, coming in at number two this weekend, followed by "Bad Teacher" holding on to the 3rd spot.
4th place went to Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts new flick, "Larry Crowne" which opened this weekend and only brought in 15.7 million. According to the Hollywood Reporter, A full 71% of the audience for Larry Crowne was over the age of 50, and 93% over the age of 25. The film, directed by Hanks, is one of the oldest skewing films box office observers can remember.
And finally the lowest money maker went to my girl Selena Gomez's movie Monte Carlo, which only brought in 8.8 million this past weekend...Regardless of the numbers, I still thought the flick was adorable.
Why do you think a movie like "Larry Crowne" with such star power did so poorly in its opening weekend? Let us know your expert opinion and be sure to stay here on clevver movies for more box office updates!
