This hard difficulty playthrough will focus on hub-based train transportation augmented by trucks. Our first two towns – Wattford and Skellington – will provide the foundation for what should be a massive transportation empire. Making money is notoriously difficult on hard mode in this game, but with good management of our rolling stock we should be able to. I'm going to try to be as aggressive as I can with our profitability and expansion, hopefully we'll connect a number of cities before we get to the OP trains of the late 20th century.
Transport Fever is Urban Games' semi-sequel to 2014's Train Fever, and hopes to be considered a modern Transport Tycoon. I don't know about all that but it is a fun game if you're able to deal with the quirky gameplay. As can be the case with games developed outside the United States, Transport Fever defies many conventions of the genre and is counterintuitive if you're used to normal economic simulators.
If you're like me, you find the word “skellington” to be ridiculous and immature. Then I discovered that SCTV's Dave Thomas himself inspired the use of this word on the Hollywood Handbook podcast, and who can argue with such a comedic genius? I certainly can't. If you've never heard of Hollywood Handbook, you're not alone. This clip of Sean Clements and Hayes Davenport discussing who should be the next Batman is what won me over to their podcast.
