Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo is the story of the original Dragon Ball, before it was all about power levels, transformations and energy blasts. Instead it's about adventure, comedy and martial arts! This game doesn't start quite at the beginning though, but rather the Red Ribbon Army Saga, and follows the story of Goku from there. We go with Goku on his quest to find the 4-star Dragon Ball, which used to belong to his late grandfather, Gohan, and is a very precious item to Goku. But the private army of Red Ribbon are also after the Dragon Balls! If one manages to collect all 7 Dragon Balls, they can get a wish fullfilled by the mighty Shenron, the Dragon. Goku must search for them while fighting the army, but also train to become stronger so that he can overcome even more powerful foes. Then there is the namesake of the game, King Piccolo, an evil demonic creature that was sealed away a long time ago...
Unlike most other Dragon Ball games, this one is not a fighting game, but rather a Beat 'em Up platformer. I found it a short while after it had come out while just browsing at the game store, and decided to pick it up. I played it, enjoyed it and beat it, but I've not played it since, so this will be fun to revisist!
