The Chair of the Defence Select Committee has said the new Prime Minister Liz Truss' Defence spending commitment is "great to hear", but hopes it will reverse some of the cuts outlined in the Integrated Review.

"She's made a commitment for 3% GDP increase, great to hear that, I've been calling for that for some time," Tobias Ellwood MP said.

"Our Armed Forces are absolutely overstretched at the moment."
