Butter and Cocoa Powder for dusting
For Cake:
100g of cocoa powder
180g of boiling water
210g of milk
190g of butter, room temperature
450g of sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp of vanilla extract
270g of flour
1 ½ tsp of baking powder
¾ tsp baking soda
1 tsp of kosher salt
Zest of 1 orange
Pop Rocks (Add to your heart's content)
For Icing:
60g of butter, room temperature
180g of powder sugar
30g of milk
1 tsp of cocoa powder
Chocolate coating:
Almond bark
Edible glitter (Use whatever color you want)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F
Line your baking pan with butter, and dust it with cocoa powder.
Combine boiling water with 180g of cocoa powder to form a paste.
Mix in 210g of milk to cocoa paste.
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
Combine all your dry ingredients.
Alternating, combine cocoa paste and dry ingredients into creamed sugar.
Mix in eggs 1 at a time.
Mix in vanilla extract.
Pour into the cake pan.
Put into oven for 40-45 minutes
When the cake is finished, set aside for two hours to cool.
Meanwhile, start making the icing. Cream 60g of butter and 180g of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in 30g of milk and 1 tsp of cocoa powder.
Once the cake is cool, crumble into small cake crumbs.
Combine icing into cake crumbs to form a dough consistency.
Either fold in pop rocks, or form cake balls and put pop rocks in the middle.
Once done with all of them, set aside in the fridge.
Melt chocolate in the microwave in 15 sec bursts.
Dip balls into chocolate.
Dust bonbons with gold dust.
Arrange and enjoy!
