trying low false cord deathgrowl to hypercompression(?) to fry scream and back
18Today's challenge is to see if I can lengthen the transition from low false cord to high fry scream, suggested by @solarscribechronicler - I didn't quite pull it off but I think switching into hypercompression might be a good bridge once I get the hang of it. "Hypercompression" is a term used by vocal expert @ToniLinke for a type of false cord distortion, see his rough vocal effects playlists for more info. The trickiest thing for me trying to nail this transition is that false cord and fry scream use different anatomy, and the break between them really reminds me of the break between chest voice and head voice, which I also suck at smoothing out!
Update: the master himself has confirmed I'm not actually doing hypercompression in this video, but I'll keep trying! Not sure what I'm doing instead but it's still fun to play with :D
