Trying Not to Suck at Arboria (no Mic) - Key Provided

So initial impressions after an hour with the game. The game has good promise. It's a bit challenging, especially to those of us who suck at Souls like and rogue like games.
It may be a bit too early in access to be worth the $20 though.
Sometimes what I'd think were solid hits don't connect. Cut scenes, and textual dialog isn't there enough yet, though they have placeholders in.
Also, lots of the stuff isn't explained, like the donation to the gods. Though I figured that out after a better run which allowed me to make them neutral to pleased. Which is another aspect not explained well, the room where you can deposit the stuff, and upgrade. Sort of figured things out, but a bit clunky.
For being a rouge like though, I'm missing how one upgrades between runs. Like after one troll dies, how do I upgrade the next? Short of appeasing the gods, I'm a bit at a loss on how that works yet.
That all said, as noted, the game shows promise, and if the devs keep working on the more clunky stuff, I think it'll be a good rouge like game. Perhaps too hard for myself, but I'll keep trying it anyhow, as some things are really cool. For example, some trolls are short sighted, some are colorblind... and this changes how you can see the world. Very cool innovation. I can't wait to see what they do with the game as time goes on, which I know makes a bit of a contradiction to the not sure if it's worth $20 yet. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/jonathanstrangebt
