Trying Out Intravenous II by Roman Glebenkov, Explosive Squat Games, and HypeTrain Digital
Tried out Intravenous II (Intravenous 2) by Roman Glebenkov, Explosive Squat Games, and HypeTrain Digital. It's a top-down stealth game that; honest to God I've been referencing old games but this is accurate, resembles the Metal Gear games released for Gameboy Advance.
Fairly enough, the developer actually stated that some of his inspirations were Splinter Cell games, Dishonored, and Deus Ex. These check out as certain mechanics like turning lights on and off affect visibility, crouching and going prone does as well, and noise can make you easily heard by enemies.
Intravenous II is a complex game stitched together by simple game mechanics that help elevate the stealth gameplay. If you want to go guns-blazing, fortunately for you, it is always an option.
Gunplay is not that deep but there is a feature seemingly borrowed from Max Payne.
Now that I think about it, the best game you can compare this to is Hotline Miami with added mechanics.
My only gripe is that the enemy AI can be a bit stupid but that's pretty much a needed feature in almost every stealth game.
