Here's Mega Man X Dive / Rockman X Dive! (Steam)

This is a Steam port of a free to play mobile game. As you might expect, it's much more of a collect and upgrade style of RPG. Yes, that means you can enjoy using your real money in the shop on the gacha to obtain weapons, gear, upgrade items, characters, and skins. Even if that's a turnoff, I do recommend hardcore Mega Man fans to check this game out just for the gallery alone. There's so many characters in this game to check out, each with new 3D models, artwork, and sometimes additional never seen before skins. There are also many nostalgic stages and enemies from past games along with arranged music tracks which is also very nice. There's even quite a bit of dialogue and story compared to most Mega Man games. The game is really polished in all those areas.

Unfortunately, the gameplay, the most important part of a game in my opinion, was disappointing to me due to those RPG mechanics. All the RPG systems ruin the fun challenge of dodging and aiming shots that we all know and love from the classic games. If you upgrade enough, you can one shot enemies and even bosses. Even if there are some challenging quests later, it's probably fair to assume it will mostly be a test to see if you upgraded your character enough or not. Besides that, the controls for locking on, switching weapons, charging your shot, and more aren't as intuitive or responsive despite the previous control scheme working perfectly fine for decades. Why does X need to manually reload his buster? Why is the charge shot a separate button? It seems they basically turned Mega Man into another one of those farm daily quests to collect rewards game, but honestly it's too early for me to say for certain. These are just my initial impressions.
