Trying Out Tavern Talk (Demo)
17Tried out Tavern Talk on 11th of May 2024, it was super fun!
I haven't played any game that plays out pretty much like a visual novel lately so this was pretty refreshing. You get to talk to different people, mostly from fantasy races such as beastrens, elves, dwarves, and vampires — at least so far in the demo.
Will there be more? I hope there will!
Aside from the visual novel mechanics of having dialogue options, one other important feature is present: potion creation. Customers are in the tavern not just to talk with you, they are asking for drinks that could help them in their adventures.
Drinks you serve provide boosts on 5 different stats: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Defense, and Charisma (I think?).
You create a drink by mixing ingredients and different drinks have specific requirements. It's simple enough to maintain the game's focus with the story and talking to/helping out customers. Depending on which drink you give, you can affect the outcome of your friends' adventures.
Lastly, you also create quests from rumors you receive from your customers. Piece together the right information and you can create a quest!
I had fun with it and I think I'd buy it for my partner.
