Thank you Voyix, here is how you disable the runes.

1. navigate to C:\Users\your account name here\AppData\LocalLow\Flanne\MinutesTillDawn
2. open the gamedata.json file, i think you can do this in notepad if you don't have a code editor, that file will look something like this:

this file is just your data stored locally, so if you want to mess with other stuff you can do so
before you do this next step save a copy of the gamedata.json file somewhere, when you want to return to normal you can paste the copy back into that folder we started in
change the runeSelection fields to look like this:
"swordRuneSelections":[-1,-1,-1,-1],"shieldRuneSelections":[-1,-1,-1,-1], and then save that
steam will probably ask to confirm your save on the next load, choose the local file and not the cloud file when it asks
