Trying to Make NewBabel look OP (R1999 Roguelike, Difficulty 15)
60I have so much respect for anyone running NewBabel as their Assist character (90% of the time it's just Jiu, with the occasional Eternity. Maybe Semmelweis, Pickles or KB if you're really lucky).
Anyway, I've actually picked up NewBabel twice. Out of the two runs, this run had a longer Razor fight, but in the other, shorter fight, NewBabel didn't do much. This longer, dragged out fight at least let NewBabel be the main DPS, which is why I decided to upload this footage instead.
Besides her being a rare Assist spawn (if you don't have her on your account), I find it's very hard to make NewBabel OP in this mode. She's not a bad character necessarily, she's actually a pretty competent support. Her Counter + Old Crutch lets her build Ceremonious fast for other characters.
You can also team her up with other Counter characters to give her more options. AliEn T can give her damage reduction, Sputnik can give her Moxie control options, though my favorite is probably the Desert Flannel + NewBabel combo. DF's counter hits pretty hard, but it's normally hard to rely on since DF has no Taunt built into her kit.
Still, even with those specific Aid combos and other artefacts (like the one that turns the Slot 1 character into a Taunt tank whenever using Rank 2/3 Incantations), you're just not gonna see super explosive damage with NewBabel. I think it's mostly because of her kit. Ults are the biggest source of damage and NewBabel's Ult is for setting up her Taunt + Counter gimmick. Her potential parters also don't have the best damage Ults (DF is pure support, though AliEnT and Sputnik have decent CC on their Ults).
