Trying to run DOOM on Windows 3.1

9Since Windows 3.1 is MS-DOS based. I thought it would also mean that it's capable of running DOOM.
So as soon I've installed it & ran DOOM.EXE. all the sudden, it stops at I_StartupTimer( )
Now I thought that theirs something wrong with the files so I tested it on DosBox & it runs just fine. So I'm assuming Doom isn't compatible for Windows 3.1?
I heard there are some programs that does make Doom work with Windows 3.1. So If anyone knows how to work with this, feel free to let me know.
