No Music.. No Talking... Just this Casual Gamer comparing Trains Simulator's Stock Sound to Armstrong Powerhouse Sound Pack for the Class 86. Both recorded at same audio settings.

This is not a "negative" review for either sound setup.. it is just figuring out which "I" personally find more pleasant while playing.. I really enjoy Train Simulator and quite happy to find 3rd party companies expanding on the original.

Well, I really like the class 86.. I liked it so much, I bought the Class 86 addon when it was on sale.. thinking without investigating that it would now have a Cab Light.. which it does not.. son of a.... my bad.. But anyways.. The other thing that bothered me with the Class 86, is the Harshness to "me" of the sound. So, instead of just turning my volume down some, I ventured over to Armstrong Powerhouse and picked up their Class 86 sound pack.

This video compares the two, for the part I care about, just moving on down the line. Instead of the Harshness of the original 86, you get a high pitched hummmmmmm from AP sound pack .... seems to be more in line of what you would expect it to sound like in real life (I have no clue for fact) But, they went ahead and removed the "wind" sound from the cab as well, which I really like and adds to the 86's feel of speed to "me".. so I am torn as to which I really like better.. .better sound pack for about $6.00 usd when not on sale.. or just turn down the sound a bit.. and that is where I will leave this... wondering if and how to remove the sound pack if that is my choice later on.. we all make choices.. First purchase at Armstrong Powerhouse and it went smoothly...

Although not used in this test.. I thought I would mention the Class 86 addon..
