AV1 is a new open-source codec that saves a lot of bandwidth in a world with online content,
It's slowly becoming the favorite codec among professional individuals and streaming websites like YouTube, Twitch, Netflix, and more.

From what I've noticed, all comparisons of AV1 against various codecs like HEVC, H.264, and VP9 led me to believe that it is the most efficient codec to stream HD, 4K, and 8K videos, especially with lower bitrates!
