'Twas The Night Before a Film Shoot
"Twas The Night Before a Film Shoot
By Matt & Sarah Quinlan
'Twas the night before a film shoot
When all through the house
The batteries were charging
The film gear laid out
The script had been written
And proofread with care
In hopes that the crew
At noon would be there
The lenses were nestled
All snug in their cases
And memory cards packed
And in their right places
With my wife the DP
and I Director Matt
The shoot should go smooth
We'll shoot then we'll wrap
When inside my pocket
There arose such a clatter
I answered the phone
To see what was the matter
When what I had dreaded
Was told in my ear
The location had canceled
Just as I'd feared
With no backup in place
I had to think quick
Or cancel the shoot
And fake being sick
I thought and I thought
But no ideas came
So I whistled and shouted
And yelled foul names
"My shoot is a Flop
Now leave me to ball
Just go away, go away
Go away, all"
And then in an instant
An idea it came
It wasn't ideal
But it would work just the same
This idea could work
I could turn this around
A new possible location
was just across town
I got dressed in a hurry
I just had to look
I threw on some clothes
From my head to my foot
The building - how perfect
The location was great
I must see inside
but is it too late?
I leapt from my car
And ran through the snow
The sign on the door
Read "For info call Mo"
He had a round face
And a giant beer belly
His shirt had been stained
With what I assumed was grape jelly
He spoke not a word
But went straight to the door
He let me inside
So I could see more
"I Love it, I'll take it."
I told him with glee
"Can you open tomorrow
At noon time for me?"
I sprang to my car
And let out a shout
"It all worked out great
Why did I doubt?"
And then I exclaimed as I drove out of sight.
"Happy Filming To All and To All A Good Night!"
