What encoder gives the best result for BF2042 on Twitch in 8000 kb/s?
I tested OBS and vMix using x264 SLOW and the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro and Web Presenter HD/4K, both at HIGH settings. The differences are best visible in 4k, due to YouTube encoding.

The ranking is as follows:
1. OBS x264 slow
2. vMix x264 slow
3. Web Presenter High
4. Atem Mini Pro High

x264 is superior to hardware encoding in fast-paced games, like BF2042. The hardware encoders are not made for that. However, if the game or recording you wish to stream is slower, hardware encoders have a much crisper picture and they have no stutter issues. After all, to reliably stream in x264 slow, you need a very beefy PC. Hardware encoders have no performance impact on your PC and they just work. So, streaming podcasts, tutorials, RPGs or adventure games via hardware makes a lot of sense. Or, if you are mobile and do not want to entrust your show to a laptop.

The most versatile device is the Atem Mini Pro. It is a unique and very useful piece of hardware. It is a video switcher, a good hardware encoder, and a recorder, all in one very compact device. You can not go wrong with it if your focus is on quality and mobility. Viewers who watch on mobile will not see the slight pixelation in high octane movement situations, anyways.
