Two bomb blasts have gone off in the Central Business District of Uganda's capital, Kampala killing 3 civilians and 3 suicide bombers; injuring several others.
Reports indicate that one explosion went off at a shopping mall near the Central Police Station (CPS) and another, near the Parliament of Uganda.
Mulago Hospital says so far, they have received 33 people injured by the twin explosions. According to hospital management, 7 of the victims are in critical condition and are all receiving medical help.
Office buildings shook when the blasts went off, some witnesses have told the Kampala Dispatch.
No one has yet claimed responsibility by the time of uploading this story. Police says the bomb blasts in Kampala were carried out by 3 suicide bombers. "The first explosion occurred at 10.03 am at Kampala Central Police Station followed by another at 10.06am on Parliamentary Avenue. 3 civilians & 3 suicide bombers confirmed dead, 33 others injured."
Last month, two separate explosions in the country killed two people. One killed a waitress at a bar in Komamboga and the other, a suicide bomber who had smuggled the explosives onto a bus.
Authorities in Uganda have blamed the October blasts on the Ugandan Islamist militant group, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), who are based in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
At least 50 people have been arrested, and some charged in court, since those recent incidents.
At the scene near the Parliament of Uganda, cars burning near Jubilee Insurance building offices after the blast went off have been widely shared on social media. Police has cordoned off both scenes.
