Two Oddly Specific Tricks for The Gourmet Race in Kirby Super Star - A Wild Glitch Appears! #kirby
886Kirby Super Start for the SNES is a series of mini games that are all unique and GREAT in their own ways. Because sprinting works differently during The Gourmet Race mini game, there are two tricks you can exploit in these games specifically in order to GO FASTER.
Both of these tricks have very practical applications in the Gourmet Race 1 course.
I'm not sure if the first technique has a name, but when you approach the first short rectangle of water, press the Y button to activate Kirby's Water Gun ability as soon as you make contact with the water. For whatever reason, using the Water Gun allows Kirby to maintain his sprinting momentum for slightly longer than simply swimming through or jumping over the first short block of water.
The next technique is called the Long Jump. While sprinting in the Gourmet Race, if you let go of the D-Pad at least ONE FRAME before you jump, Kirby will jump forward at sprinting speed. Normally if you continue to hold forward out of a sprinting jump, Kirby loses a significant amount of speed.
Using the Long Jump technique, however, Kirby can jump over the large gap between the platforms near the end of the race without having to fly or exhale.
Using the water gun at the first water section, then using the Long Jump trick near the longer water section AND at the part with the gap in the platforms, you can easily get a time near 21 seconds on Gourmet Race 1!
Just remember to slide through the breakable blocks. Unless you have a better strategy??? Then PLEASE let me know???? ???
Note: These tricks pretty much only work during the Gourmet Race. I mean, you CAN do them elsewhere, but they don't really make any difference. And they DO NOT apply to Kirby Super Star Ultra on Nintendo DS.
