And gosh, even after knowing Millie's perspective, they did a fantastic job of making Caprice's powerful in its own right. They're both still best friends - soon to be sisters - and they both want things to work, but there's still a fundamental gap in communication and understanding between them that is only widening the gap between them.
And in this case we see firsthand how badly Caprice's confidence and optimism breaks down in that moment. How hard it is to see it reverberate through her life, and how much it hurts hearing her give up.
