After Sir Jaime Lannister returns to King's Landing, Lord Tywin Lannister has a Valyrian steel sword forged from him from the late Lord Eddard Stark's previous weapon, Ice, and orders Jaime to return to Casterly Rock to succeed him as Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West. Jaime, however, refuses, much to the anger of Tywin, stating that he wants only to remain as a member of the Kingsguard. Tywin ultimately gives up on his previously favourite child.
